Request New Hardware From IT
Request New Hardware From IT
Overview
If you need a new laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, dock, or other equipment, submit a hardware request ticket. This guide explains what to include so IT can move quickly without back-and-forth.
Before You Begin
- Your manager's approval, especially for items above your company's spending threshold (ask if you are unsure).
- A clear reason for the request (replacement, new role, broken device, ergonomic need).
- The model or specs you want, if you have a preference. If not, IT will recommend the standard option.
- For accessibility or medical needs, a note from your manager or HR is helpful.
Steps
- Open a browser and go to https://support.bostonmit.com.
- Click Submit a Ticket.
- Choose Hardware Request as the category.
- Fill in the form with:
- What you need: laptop, monitor, headset, dock, etc.
- Why you need it: replacement, new hire, role change, broken, ergonomic.
- Preferred model: if known. Otherwise pick Standard.
- Manager's email: for approval.
- Shipping address: home or office address.
- Attach any supporting information (a photo of a broken item, a note from HR, a manager email).
- Click Submit. You receive a ticket number by email.
- IT acknowledges within one business day and tells you about availability and timing.
- When the item arrives, follow the included setup guide or contact IT for help.
Troubleshooting
- If you do not get a confirmation email: check spam. If still missing, email support@bostonmit.com with your request.
- If your manager has not approved: the request stays open until approval comes through. Follow up with your manager directly.
- If the item is out of stock: IT will offer an equivalent model or a wait time. Reply on the ticket with your choice.
- If you need something urgently (same-day): call IT directly after submitting the ticket. Phone numbers are on https://support.bostonmit.com.
- For returns or trade-ins of old equipment: IT will include shipping labels or pickup details with the new item.
