Join a Microsoft Teams Meeting From Anywhere
Join a Microsoft Teams Meeting From Anywhere
Overview
You can join a Microsoft Teams meeting from a desktop app, web browser, phone, or even a regular phone line. This guide shows you the options so you can pick the one that fits where you are.
Before You Begin
- The meeting invite with the Join the meeting link. Check your Outlook calendar or the email invite.
- The phone numbers from the invite, if you plan to dial in by phone.
- Your work account credentials.
- A headset or earbuds for clearer audio.
Steps
- Open the meeting invite in Outlook or your calendar.
- To join from your computer, click Join the meeting now.
- If you have the new Microsoft Teams desktop app, the meeting opens there. Otherwise, the browser version opens. Both work well.
- Choose your camera and microphone settings on the pre-join screen, then click Join now.
- To join from your phone, install the Microsoft Teams mobile app, sign in, and tap the meeting in the Calendar tab. Tap Join.
- To join by audio only, dial one of the phone numbers in the invite. Enter the Conference ID when prompted.
- If you are a guest from another organization, click the same join link and choose Continue on this browser. Type your name and join as a guest.
- Use mute until you need to speak. Click the microphone icon in the meeting toolbar to toggle.
Troubleshooting
- If clicking the link does nothing: copy it and paste it into a browser, or open the Teams app and look for the meeting in your Calendar tab.
- If you sound robotic or others cannot hear you: switch from Wi-Fi to a wired connection, or move closer to your router. Try a wired headset.
- If you accidentally dialed in but also joined from your laptop: mute one of them. Two devices in the same room cause echo.
- If the meeting requires a lobby admission: the organizer must let you in. Send them a quick message if you have been waiting more than a minute.
- If you cannot find the invite: check Outlook, your Teams Calendar, or ask the organizer to forward it again.
