Set Up Outlook on Your iPhone
Set Up Outlook on Your iPhone
Overview
This guide walks you through adding your work email to the Outlook app on your iPhone. Use the official Outlook app rather than the built-in Apple Mail app — it works better with Microsoft 365, supports modern security policies, and gets faster updates from Microsoft.
Before You Begin
- Your work email address and current password.
- Your iPhone running iOS 17 or later.
- Multi-factor authentication already set up. If you have not done this yet, set up MFA first.
- A few minutes of uninterrupted time.
Steps
- On your iPhone, open the App Store.
- Search for Microsoft Outlook and tap Get to install the app published by Microsoft Corporation.
- When the install finishes, open Outlook.
- Tap Add Account.
- Type your work email address, then tap Add Account.
- Enter your password when prompted, then tap Sign In.
- Approve the multi-factor authentication prompt on your phone or in the Authenticator app.
- If your company requires it, tap Register to enroll the device with Microsoft Intune. Follow the on-screen prompts.
- When asked whether to add another account, tap Maybe Later.
- Allow notifications when prompted. You can adjust these later in Settings.
- Your inbox loads. Mail, calendar, and contacts now sync to the app.
Troubleshooting
- If the app cannot find your account: double-check the email address for typos. Make sure you are using your full work email, not a personal one.
- If sign-in fails repeatedly: open a browser and sign in at outlook.office.com to confirm your password works. Reset your password if needed.
- If you get an enrollment error: your company may require device compliance before email syncs. Submit a ticket and we will check your device status.
- If mail is slow or missing: force-close the app and reopen it. Pull down on the inbox to refresh.
- If you already had the native Apple Mail app set up: remove the work account from Settings → Mail → Accounts so the two apps do not duplicate notifications.
