If you’ve forgotten your Microsoft 365 password, you can reset it yourself using Microsoft’s self-service password reset (SSPR) tool.
Note: This process requires that you have previously set up your security verification methods (such as phone number, SMS, or Authenticator app). If you have not set these up or run into issues, please contact IT support.
On the Get back into your account page:
Select Work or school account.
Enter your full work email address (e.g., username@yourdomain.com
).
Enter the characters shown on the screen (CAPTCHA).
Click Next.
Choose a verification method (e.g., text message, phone call, Authenticator app).
Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your identity.
If you have multiple methods configured, you can choose the one you prefer.
Once verified, you will be prompted to create a new password.
Make sure your new password meets your company’s security requirements:
At least 8 characters (we recommend 12+ for better security).
A mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols.
Avoid common words or patterns.
Click Finish once your new password has been set.
Sign in again using your new password.
You may need to re-enter your password on your Outlook, Teams, or mobile apps.
If you recently changed your password, you may need to update saved credentials on your phone or computer.
If you’re locked out or don’t receive a verification code, contact IT support for assistance.
You’re all set! You can now access Microsoft 365 with your new password.
