How to use Apps in Teams

You can use many apps to in teams to increase the productivity power of Teams. A few common Apps you may see are OneNote and SharePoint (Files)

OneNote is a digital notebook that allows you to capture, organize and share your notes with your team members. You can use OneNote in teams to collaborate on projects, brainstorm ideas, document best practices and more. You will also be able to access and manage your SharePoint files directly in teams channels.

How to add OneNote to a team or a chat

To add OneNote to a team or a chat, follow these steps:
  1. In the Teams app, click on the team or chat where you want to add OneNote.
  2. Click on the + button at the top of the channel or chat to add a new tab.
  3. Search for OneNote in the app gallery and select it.
  4. Choose one of the following options:
    1. Create a new notebook: This will create a new notebook in your team’s SharePoint site and add it as a tab. You can give it a name and description and click Save.
    2. Browse notebooks: This will let you select an existing notebook from your team’s SharePoint site or your OneDrive account and add it as a tab. You can choose a specific section or page to display and click Save.
    3. Paste a OneNote link: This will let you paste a link to an existing notebook from any source and add it as a tab. You can copy the link from the OneNote app or web browser and click Save.
Once you add OneNote as a tab, everyone in the team or chat will be able to view and edit the notebook (provided they have access to it). You can also rename or remove the tab by clicking on the drop-down arrow next to it.

How to use OneNote in teams

Once you have added OneNote as a tab, you can use it to create and manage your notes with your team members. Here are some tips on how to use OneNote in teams:
  1. To create a new note, click on the + Page button at the bottom of the page list. You can give it a title and start typing or drawing your content. You can also use the formatting options to add bullets, tables, images, files, links and more.
  2. To edit an existing note, click on the page name and make your changes. You can also use the undo and redo buttons to revert your edits. All your changes are automatically saved and synced across devices.
  3. To organize your notes, you can create sections and subpages. Sections are like folders that group related pages together. Subpages are like indented pages that show hierarchy within a section. To create a section, click on the + Section button at the bottom of the section list. To create a subpage, right-click on a page and select Make Subpage.
  4. To collaborate with your team members, you can use @mentions to tag them in your notes. This will send them a notification and invite them to join the conversation. You can also see who edited what by clicking on the Show Authors button at the top right corner of the note. You can also leave comments for feedback or discussion by clicking on the Insert Comment button at the top right corner of the note.
  5. To search for your notes, you can use the search box at the top left corner of the notebook. You can type keywords or phrases to find matching pages or sections. You can also filter your search by author, date or tag.

How to access and manage files in teams

Teams lets you access and manage your files from different sources, such as OneDrive, SharePoint or other cloud storage services. You can also upload files from your computer or mobile device and share them with your team members.

To access and manage files in teams, follow these steps:

  1. In the Teams app, click on Files on the left sidebar. This will show you all the files that you have recently accessed or shared in teams.
  2. To upload a file from your device, click on Upload at the top of the file list. You can choose one or more files from your device and click Open. The files will be uploaded to your team’s SharePoint site and added to the file list.
  3. To manage your files, you can use the options at the top of the file list. You can sort, filter, view or download your files. You can also create new folders, move or copy files, rename or delete files and more.
