US government agencies hit in global cyberattack
Russian cybercriminals have hacked several US federal government agencies and hundreds of companies and organizations in the US. The hackers exploited a vulnerability in widely used software called MOVEit. No ransom demands have been made of federal agencies.

- CISA estimates that "several hundred" companies and organizations in the US could be affected by the hacking spree.
- The ransomware gang allegedly responsible for the attack is known as Clop.
- Progress Software, the US firm that makes the software exploited by the hackers, has discovered a second vulnerability in the code that the company is working to fix.
- The Department of Energy is among the multiple federal agencies that have been breached.
